Women Empowerment

Still I Rise.
I remember the first time I ever heard those powerful words from Maya Angelou. My mom always made me read African American literature that empowered black women. I looked up to my mother, she was the most beautiful and powerful woman I’ve ever met. After hearing that poem I knew I wanted to be a strong woman who empowers others. That has always been my goal on my personal journey to EMPOWER others, but most importantly black women.
This project is my first, I wanted all of the women to feel seen, embraced, encouraged, vulnerable, heard but more importantly empowered. I’m so thankful I had the courage to reach out to each individual, speak pure words of appreciation , and collaborate to show others we can do this too! I present to you Girl Power, shot by Rashid Tholley and curated by Abena Charity.
